Tanga was arrested by Gordons Minor Crime Unit today and brought to the Boroko Police Station.

He is being detained, and awaits decision from the police whether or not to release him on bail.

Last month, police obtained a search warrant to Tanga’s property over allegations he had misused office privileges to allegedly grant a land title for a piece of land that already had an existing title.

The land portion is 2353 Granville, and sits between Games Village and the CRC Bethel Church in Waigani.

Francesco Galdelli, 58, and Vanja Goffi, 45 have been wanted on an Interpol red notice since 2013.

The Hollywood star sued them and in a 2010 trial in Italy testified against them, saying they had fraudulently used his name.

They are also accused of a series of other scams and frauds in Italy.

They had fled their home country to avoid arrest and had been dubbed the Italian Bonnie and Clyde after the legendary US gangster couple.

NCD Metropolitan Superintendent, Perou N’Dranou, said the pair identified as Constable Gabi Gal of Minj, Jiwaka Province, a male adult attached with Gerehu Police Station, and Constable Albert Robert, a male adult from Upper Mendi, attached to Boroko Police Station, were arrested and detained by members of the Gordon Minor Crimes Unit.

Chief Superintendent N’Dranou said Gal and Robert and a third policeman, who remains unidentified at this stage, allegedly used an unmarked vehicle to rob, assault and injure four civilians on April 19 this year.

The accident took place opposite the Sir Manasupe Haus at around 4am, resulting in the deaths of three people with five receiving multiple injuries.

“The driver lost control of the vehicle allegedly whilst under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle reportedly overturned three times and claimed the lives of three people,” officer-in-charge of Boroko Traffic Unit, Senior Inspector Joseph Salle, said.

Dr. Vele Pat Ila’ava, aged 56 of Viriolo village, Abau district, Central Province, was arrested on 26 February 2018 in Port Moresby.

He was interviewed and charged with 11 counts of abuse of office and 9 counts of official corruption resulting in the misappropriation of more than K1.9 million, the property of Independent State of Papua New Guinea.

Police said the warrant for Emmanuel Karenzi Karake, head of Rwanda's intelligence and security service, was made on behalf of authorities in Spain.

Karake, a close ally of Rwandan President Paul Kagame, was one of 40 members of the Rwandan military indicted in 2008 on charges of terrorism and genocide by Spanish national Court Judge Fernando Andreu.
