Angore L.O’s warned

In a joint media conference this afternoon, Acting Police Commissioner Jim Andrews and PNGDF Commander Brigadier General Gilbert Toropo warned that security personnel are now on the ground and anybody caught damaging property will face the full force of the law.

Acting Police Commissioner Jim Andrews said the actions of these landowners are uncalled for.

He said the perpetrators are known to police.

Andrews stressed that the minority who claim to be legitimate landowners, and have destroyed properties, will be apprehended and charged soon.

Genuine PNG LNG Project landowner’s blasts ‘fake landowners

In a joint conference this afternoon, Chairman of Angore Special Authority, Hari John Akipe, alongside other leaders of the Angore Well head and Hakupara clan urged the developer and the government to ignore these demands.

The landowners said the issues raised in their petition on May 22, 2018 were not genuine and were not from genuine landowners and as such was not supported by the principal Wellhead clans who are custodians and security of the three Wellheads at Angore PDL8.

Baki issues stern warning to personnel

He has further directed police to arrest anyone involved in extortion attempts.

Commissioner Baki issued this directive following a recent incident in Hela Province where people from Poroma hijacked 10 trucks and a Toyota 10-seater belonging to Trans Wonderland Ltd (TWL) to force people from Angore to pay a K3 million compensation claim. They claimed this was for a young man killed in a car accident three years ago.

​PNG LNG LOs issue ultimatum

Landowner representatives from Angore, Juha and Hides gas fields held a joint media conference yesterday, calling on the Government to seriously address the nonpayment of landowners’ equities.

The LOs made their intentions known following media reports that landowners from the LNG Plant Site within Papa/Lealea were to receive their payments after successfully meeting all requirements as per the Oil and Gas Act.

The landowners aired their concern over the constant delay and lack of government pro-activeness in addressing outstanding issues.
