Christmas comes to Cheshire Home

Staff from ANG’s corporate quality and safety department brought the Christmas spirit to the children.

Group leader Sonia Sebulon said from their own initiatives the team bought presents from money raised by their social club this year.

“We were able to buy little things like chocolate, sweet biscuits, fruits, toiletries, tinned food and rice. But most importantly, seeing smiles on the faces of these children gave us great satisfaction,’’ she said.

PX heralds major fleet movement

Currently, the airline has two F70s in its fleet with the third expected before the end of the year.

Air Niugini board chairman Sir Frederick Reiher said the airline’s board and management believed the F70 aircraft were perfectly suited to the PNG market due to their performance and operating economics.

Consequently, they were chosen over the closest alternatives, the

Dash -8 Q400 and ATR. The Fokker 70s will be replacing the existing Dash8 Q400 fleet at Air Niugini.

Flight sets gender record for Link PNG

Link PNG’s flight PX 900/901 on 29th May  “goes down in the history of the airline’’  as the first all-female aircrew taking to the skies of Papua New Guinea, a statement today says.

A crew of five led by Captain Beverly Pakii, first officer Nicole Koleala and cabin crew  Julie Tamdodo, Ulato Avei and Veapi Ranu departed Port Moresby’s Jackson’s airport on a scheduled  flight to Tabubil and back.

Hoskins to get bigger, fast Fokker planes

The F70 is making  its maiden flight to Hoskins this afternoon from the Jacksons International airport in Port Moresby.

It has been more than five years for turbo prop aircraft to fly into WNB and the F70 jet aircraft flight will be a bonus for WNB people,  giving Air Niugini customers jet comfort, speed and more seats between Port Moresby and Hoskins.

The F70 has advantages over the Q400 due to its long range capability where it can operate on  routes that F100 and Boeing fleets are too large to operate on.
