Boeing gets $440m order from Papua New Guinea carrier

Announcing the deal along with Boeing at the final trade day of the Singapore Airshow, Air Niugini chairman Sir Frederick Reiher said the carrier needed the planes "urgently".

The airline currently has a domestic service, as well as flights to Australia, Singapore, Fiji, the Philippines, Solomon Islands, Hong Kong, Vanuatu and Japan. It is planning to fly to China in the near future.

Dinesh Keskar, regional senior vice president for sales at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said the aircraft had its first test flight in late January and was "performing exceptionally well".

PX audit team to assess Vanuatu airport runway

The flight will also carry an audit and safety team who will assess the condition of the runway and report back to management for further deliberation and action.

General Manager, Marketing, Dominic Kaumu said the audit team will report back Tuesday.

Last week, Qantas suspended their codeshare with Air Vanuatu effective immediately due to concerns about the country’s international runway at the Bauerfield International Airport.

Air New Zealand has also suspended all flights to Vanuatu.

Air Niugini to review Vanuatu flight services

This is due to deteriorating conditions of that country’s runway.

General Manager, Market Dominic Kaumi told LOOP PNG the airline management will meet today to make a decision on the Airline’s weekly service to Port Vila, Vanuatu.

Last week, Qantas suspended their codeshare with Air Vanuatu effectively immediately due to concerns about the country’s international runway at the Bauerfield International Airport..

Air New Zealand has also suspended all flights to Vanuatu.

They include Lohia Garo, Phyllis Tabara and Nancy Aue.

Garo was awarded Member of the Order of Logohu(ML) for his services to the aviation industry and Air Niugini while Tabara and Aue each received a Logohu Medal(LM).

They all have worked with Air Niugini for 24 and 29 years respectively.

In congratulating the trio, Chief Executive Officer, Simon Foo said these staff members have worked with Air Niugini for a long time and commended them for their commitment and loyalty to Air Niugini. 

Two interns continue airline training program

Nancy Harris and Lionel Kup were recruited under the airline’s graduate management program following the completion of their bachelor programs at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) and the PNG University of Technology (Unitech) respectively.

Air Niugini executives fly on PNG Air plane

Dominic Kaumu, Air Niugini general manager marketing and Marco McConnell, ground operations and aviation security, boarded the plane for the first time since they have been working with Air Niugini.

Kaumu in his page on social media outlet Facebook posted: “History in the making. In all my thirty seven years serving the national airline, I am boarding this airline for the very first time.. PX still is my no.1 airline.”

Speaking during a dividend payment of K20 million to the State through Kumul Consolidated Holdings cheque presentation by Air Niugini last night in Port Moresby, Sir Frederick acknowledged the support from the Prime Minister and Kumul Consolidated Holdings for their continuous support to Air Niugini to deliver a sound profit and a good dividend to its shareholder.

Air Niugini to lead code-share plan

Chief Executive Officers of Air Niugini, Air Vanuatu and Solomon Airlines signed the agreements which now gives Air Niugini the right as the operating carrier on the POM/Honiara, Honiara/Vanuatu, Vanuatu/Honiara and Honiara/POM routes while the other two airlines as the marketing carrier.

The code-share agreements are effective immediately.

Air Niugini passes international safety test

 IOSA is an international evaluation system designed to assess the operational and control systems of an airline, to ensure the safety and quality of the airline.

Air Niugini is the only IATA IOSA certified PNG airline operating in the country.

Chief executive officer  Simon Foo shared the certificate with Civil Aviation Safety Authority-PNG, Director  Wilson Sagati  in Port Moresby today(Friday 20th Nov).
