PNG should be proud

The Minister admitted the despite some logistical challenges, the 150-member PNG contingent will be flying the flag high at the 6th Melanesian Festival of Arts in Honiara.

The Minister, who also took time to be part of the contingents’ welcome parade on Sunday, said the country needed positive news about human and cultural empowerment through a celebration of customs and traditions unique to the region.

Minister Tammur says the two week festival will be a good opportunity to exchange cultures and develop on bilateral relationships beyond the political arena.

Honiara comes to a standstill

The Kukum Highway was a sight of flags and traditional regalia led by the biggest participant in the festival – PNG.

The PNG contingent was led by the Arts and Culture Minister, Emil Tammur, and the National Cultural Commission Acting Director, John Uani.

The march started at the Honiara City Council and ended at Lawson Tama.

Following the parade was a gift presentation by the participants in reciprocation of the gifts given to them on Saturday by the host nation.
