Kokoda festival marks 20 years

The event gathered local community members, government and non-government partners, and donors at the Kokoda FODE College and Kou Kou Community to witness the diverse range of life-changing projects currently being implemented along the Kokoda Track and broader Oro Province.

KTF's chief executive officer, Dr. Genevieve Nelson, reminisced on the significant turning point in 2012 when Kokoda veterans, Bede Tongs, George Palmer, Owen Baskett and Garnet Tobin initiated the journey.

Nasfund's 20th Anniversary

Mr Vee said since the rebirth as Nasfund, the Fund has continued to perform positively.

“Positive results across membership growth, member savings, net asset value, and more importantly, return to members each year through our annual interest crediting rate,” he said.

“From a Balance Sheet of K300 million in 2002, your Fund has grown to a value that now stands at over K6 billion.

“Similarly, returns to members in the form of interest has also been positive over the last 20 years.

One of the key policies of the party is to give ten percent of the national budget to churches to empower and develop young people. 

The party won four seats in the 2002 election. The party also won an additional seat at the Southern Highlands supplementary election in May 2003, bringing the total number of members to eight. Three more MPs were reported to have joined the party in December that year.

Ipatas Cup 20th Year Of Success

There is a possible expansion into New Ireland and the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

The competition normally starts end of November however dates are dependent on the current COVID-19 new measures which might push the competition forward.

The Ipatas cup has had a strong hold in the Highlands and Momase regions with overwhelming interests now coming Southern and New Guinea Islands regions as well.
