City Manager Condemns Violence

A dispute over the boxes among scrutineers escalated this afternoon into a full-scale fight onto the John Guise and Waigani Drive roads.

Mr Frank described the filmed fight that was circulated on social media as disturbing and inhuman.

He called for continued peace and order during the counting period. Mr Frank calls on all parties to resort to lawful means to address their grievances other than resorting to violence.

Kokopo Continues Elimination

The elimination process commenced on Saturday afternoon at Vunapope Diocesian Hall upon completion of quality checks.

Marum Leads As Elimination Continues

Former rugby league super coach, Michael Marum maintains a clear lead with a difference of 4,100 votes ahead of his nearest rival.

After the 6th exclusion, candidate 25-John Gesling is out of the race.

Border Command Quiet

Deputy Divisional Commander for Border Command, Chief Superintendent Sibron Papoto, said there were less or no reports of election-related incidents in the provinces, known as the border commands.
He said all these provinces have completed polling and are now into extraction of ballot boxes and into counting.
 
Wewak, Angoram, Wosera-Gawi and Ambunti-Drekikier are still in counting at their respective districts except for Ambunti-Drekikier, which is being counted in Maprik. Counting for the regional seat is at Moem Barracks, Wewak. 
 

High Risk Area Complete Polling

Contingent commander, Inspector Steven Yalamu said the Nankina Valley was classified as a high risk area because of the notorious Hetwara gang’s ongoing criminal activities in the area.

Inspector Yalamu said the team completed polling and were transported to Saidor station where the ballot boxes were sorted and flown to Madang.

Inspector Yalamu was pleased with the support from the police hierarchy and the responsible authorities in helping to transport the polling teams.

After the second exclusion on Alipet, the progressive tally for the ENB Provincial seat is:
