Hunters Players Awarded

Decorated hooker, Wartovo Puara Jr took out three major awards at the Hunters’ presentation night for his performances as the Hunters completed their seven-month stay on the Gold Coast before returning home for their off-season.

Puara, who this year became the Hunters’ most capped player, received awards for the Chairman’s Player of the Year, Best Forward and Players’ Player for his work across the Hunters’ 17 matches of this season.

Hunters Test Devils

The final 38-22 scoreline did not reflect the stern test that the Hunters handed out to the Devils, who led by only four points approaching the final 20 minutes of the match.

A spark from Brandon Nima, who fielded a Devils kick in his in-goal in the 11th minute, ignited the Hunters’ early run. Nima passed in the in-goal to winger Solo Wane, who raced the length of the field for the Hunters’ first point of the day.

Country Week locations announced

As part of the highly-anticipated ‘Activate! Queensland’ Country Week, all seven Round 14 matches from Queensland’s premier men’s competition will head to the regions across the weekend of July 17-18.

The Palaszczuk government is again investing in regional Queensland by backing the program, with Sports Minister Stirling Hinchliffe announcing the match-day locations during the QRL’s broadcast of the Wynnum Manly Seagulls versus Redcliffe Dolphins match.
