Only two NSL matches tomorrow

In Port Moresby, the Southern Strikers have a meeting with competition leaders Toti City FC at the PNG Football Stadium.

At the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium in Lae will be the encounter between Besta United PNG FC and the struggling Buang FC.

Both matches will start at 3pm.

The match between Madang FC and FC Momase that was scheduled to be played at Laiwaden Oval will be a washout due to the unrest in Madang.

FC Morobe Wawens have the bye this weekend.

Wins to Besta, Toti and Madang

At the Bisini Grounds in Port Moresby, Besta PNG United FC def. FC Momase 3-1.

Up at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium in Lae, Toti City FC def. Buang FC 8-1.

Across to Laiwaden Oval in Madang, hosts Madang FC def. Southern Strikers FC 5-0.

Besta notch first win

Besta struck first in the 25th minute of the match with a goal from Barty Korebin.

The score was made level six minutes into the second half when Elton Banam sunk one for his side.

Besta dominated the remainder of the match and it paid off with goals to Emmanuel Simongi in the 85th and Jonathan Allan in the first minute of stoppage time.

"We came prepared to play today. But there was a lot we didn't do right. We still have a lot of work to do,” said Besta PNG United FC coach, Harrison Kamake.

NSL to start next weekend

PNG’s top tier football competition was supposed to commence tomorrow, but the board of the NSL rescheduled by a week to allow teams more time to prepare.

Seven teams have confirmed their participation this season. They are: Toti City Dwellers (formerly known as Lae City Dwellers), Madang FC, Besta PNG United FC, Buang FC and newcomers FC Morobe Wawens, Southern Strikers and FC Momase.
