NCD, Central election security operations launched

Members of the RPNGC, PNGDF and the CS started off with a parade march along the one lane street outside the police station and later lined up in front of the station.

Assistant Commissioner of Police for Operations, Jim Andrews stressed to the officers that there shouldn't be any separation between the forces and that it is important they maintain a good working relationship.

ACP Andrews urged the public that it is not only the responsibility of the police but for everyone to take ownership of the 2017 General elections.

Polling venues for Manus Province

Manus is the only province with one district - Lorengau. It however has two seats; the open and regional seats.

Polling in the province will commence on Saturday 24 June and will be carried out for 21 days till 3 July.

Manus has 160 polling venues covering its 12 Local Level Governments and 131 wards.

Nominations slow and quiet in Gulf Province

Since the issuing of the writs nominations have been going on smoothly but at a slow pace.

As of yesterday, 11 candidates have nominated for the regional seat, 21 nomination for the Kikori Open seat and 15 for the Kerema Open seat.

Women have also nominated; three for regional, one for Kerema Open and one for Kikori Open. Among those running for the Gulf Regional seat is a woman and the chairperson for Gulf Focus Group, Maso Raka who nominated yesterday at 4pm.
