Hane Vaieke is new Women’s Snooker champ

Vaieke defeated Helen Samuel four frames to one in the best of seven frames final played at the Lamana Q Club last Saturday.

Vaieke won the 1st frame 53-33 but Samuel hit back winning the 2nd 56-43.

It was all a one way affair after this as Vaieke won the next three frames 80-38, 49-39 and again 49-39 to be crowned the champion for 2017.

Earlier on, Vaieke caused the upset of the year when she beat 11 time champion Geua John, three frames to one in the best of five frames semi-final.

2017 PNG Women’s Snooker Titles launched

PNG Billiards and Snooker vice-president, John Chan, said the event will feature 40 players.

“Registration and nomination is K150 per player if you play in the Port Moresby Pacific MMI competition. It’s K200 if you don’t play in the Pacific MMI competition.

“The briefing and draws will be done on the evening of Monday May 29 at the Lamana Q Club. The event will start the next day and end with the finals of Saturday June 3,” said Chan.
