COUNTING: Central Regional progressive result – after elimination 16

After the 16th exclusion of Jonathan Oata, Agarobe is ahead on 26,815 votes.

3,057 votes from Oata were distributed among the 11 remaining candidates.

COUNTING: Moresby North-East – after elimination 14

As at 7am, Amaiu is sitting on a lead of 1,300 votes ahead of PNG National Party candidate John Kaupa.

Kaupa, Mald, Dimugu and Okuk follow closely behind.

​Woman MP ousted

Sohe Returning Officer, Wesley Korapeba, told Loop PNG that the declaration was made yesterday after 3pm.

He said after the 14th exclusion, Amuli went past the absolute majority, finishing with 7,724 votes, and Gore on 7,513.

Korapeba arrived today in Port Moresby and will present the writ for the Sohe Open Seat to Electoral Commissioner, Patilias Gamato.

This is the progressive tally after the 8th exclusion today. 

COUNTING: Kairuku-Hiri counting suspended

Counting officials stopped the elimination process after exclusion 17 over nonpayment of their allowances.

Counting was officially suspended at 3pm today by Kairuku-Hiri returning officer Tabu Vaira.

Vaira said at the moment, he cannot do much as he has already advised the Electoral Commission about the issue.

He stated that counting will resume on Wednesday morning however, this will depend on the counting officials if they decide to continue and if their issue is addressed.

The ballot boxes were sealed by Vaira, witnessed by the scrutineers.

​Parties, Independents team up

PANGU Party Leader Sam Basil met with Sir Mekere Morauta, who represented the Independents, and Leader of PNG National Party, Kerenga Kua, in Port Moresby over the weekend, to discuss the camping arrangements for their groups.

Assistant election manager for NCD, Bale Kavanamur, informed counting officials today to fast track counting and elimination.

Following the 24th exclusion from this morning, only 14 candidates remain in the race.

COUNTING: Kairuku-Hiri progressive result – after elimination 15

After the 15th exclusion of Allan Aisa Kekele, Isoaimo is ahead on 13,593 votes.

434 votes from Kekele were distributed among the 12 remaining candidates.
