Lewis learns fate as NRL sanctions ‘masked‘ Bulldog over alleged speaker theft

Lachlan Lewis is set to learn his fate over the alleged attempted theft of a speaker given to the Bulldogs by the NRL.

Lewis has been stood down by the club since last Friday when news broke of the alleged incident.

The halfback, who was told he would be released by the Dogs earlier this week, is now facing sanction.

According to Channel 9 reporter Danny Weidler, Lewis will have to apply to have any future contract registered with the NRL.

He is also facing a fine in the region of $10,000.

Earlier in the week Weidler revealed that Lewis donned a mask and put a hood over his head as he attempted to steal the speaker.

“There’s CCTV with Lachlan Lewis in the hotel with a hood on and a mask on his face taking this thing,” Weidler told the Big Sports Breakfast.

“The only thing that’s maybe saving him from further drama is that the transaction never went through, there was no exchange of goods.”

The halfback, who was paid $450,000 this season, played 43 games for the Bulldogs across a four-year spell with the club.
