We will make sure we win: Hunters

We will make sure we leave with the 2 points on Monday, says SP PNG Hunters coach, Michael Marum.

Coming off an impressive 10-point win over Northern Pride on Sunday, the Hunters are now physically and mentally preparing themselves to meet the 4th-placed Norths Devils in the round 19 Country Week game clash.

“For us, playing in Lae is a first time too so we want to make sure we leave with the 2 points,” said Marum.

“It will be a tough one.

“Last week we played the number 4th team Pride, they dropped down and the Norths had a big win so they moved up to number 4 again.”

The Hunters’ 18-8 win over the Pride moved them up to the 10th spot on the Intrust Super Cup ladder.

Marum credited the win to their strong defence.

“We didn’t miss too many tackles, we missed 22 tackles there.”

Meantime, the Hunters have 6 games left – 3 home games and 3 away.

“We lost 2 home games but if we can get those 6 wins, that should put us in the top 6 position.

“But again, that depends on the teams above us. We hope that some of them, the 7th, 8th and 9th placed teams, lose their games and allow us to move up.”
