Wantoks prove too good

WANTOKS proved too strong for sixth placed Malabu in Lae Football Soccer Associations womens A league competition today in what was a one sided affair.

Despite being four players down, the ladies in blue who are currently running second on the competition points ladder were a class of their own boasting internationals Sandra Birum and Fatima Rama.

Both engineered their side’s to a 5-1 victory.

Though the premiership hopefuls started slow, missing four goals, three easy goals from striker Rama found the goal post instead seeing a struggling first half for the speedster.

Malabu’s captain and backs Theresa Agi played a blinder in ensuring Rama not finding the goal mouth with her defense but that faltered in the second half as Rama came back strong scoring an hat trick.

Wantoks were first to score just few minutes into the match with a Birum goal but Malabu retaliated with an equaliser through Nerrie Nirik.

Koru Somu scored to extend Wantoks lead 2-1 at half time.

Wantoks playing against a full team was not a threat as they dominated play up front with striker Rama finally enjoying her scoring trade mark.

In the other womens match Bara collected three easy points from forfeiting Budeng.
