Wales coach: It was a very harsh lesson

Wales coach, John Kear didn’t hold back describing yesterday’s 50-6 loss to the PNG LNG Kumuls as a very harsh lesson for his side.

“We didn’t perform well in any aspect of rugby league. It was a very harsh lesson.

“The Southern hemisphere fellows really do carry the ball very aggressively, and if you don’t stand up to that, you’ll end up getting rolled over and lose field possession.

“We just never got any opportunity to attack because we couldn’t stop PNG. I have to complement them for that.

“We let ourselves down.”

Next up for the Dragons is the showdown with Fiji Bati on November 5 at Townsville Stadium, Australia.

Kear indicated changes will be made to the side.

“We have to take a good look at ourselves in terms of team selection and preparation. Townsville offers similar conditions to here. We had a dress rehearsal and we didn’t do very well so we need to better for the show next week.

“There will be lots of changes made.”
