U19 women’s champs: NZ thrash PNG 12-0

PNG were given a 12-0 thumping by New Zealand in the opening match of the OFC U-19 Women’s Championship 2017 in Auckland this morning.

Hannah Blake fired the ball past PNG’s keeper Faith Kasiray to find the back of the net and open the scoring in the 16th minute.

It became 2-0 when Samantha Tawharu slotted another past Kasiray off a pass from Emma Main.

The home side struck twice in additional time to bring the score out at 4-0 at the break.

The floodgates opened up in the second half of the match with the Kiwis scoring another eight goals in what was a lopsided affair.

PNG’s second match will be on Friday against New Caledonia. This match will start at 12:30pm (10:30am PNG time).
