Team Madang preparation well underway

Team Madang technical director John Gringo, in a press conference this week, said all the codes are in their respective trainings, with code directors and management strict on discipline, commitment and attendance to trainings.

Gringo said the team will take part in eighteen codes and will bring to Kimbe the best athletes of Madang Province to compete against favourites Team NCD and Team Morobe.

“We have athletics, basketball, boxing, volleyball, soccer, cricket, dart, golf, softball, snooker, kickboxing, karate, netball, rugby touch, rugby sevens, rugby nines, power lifting and beach volleyball.

“Our code directors are working around the clock to ensure the athletes pass the entire test and above all, are committed to training, discipline and follow the regulations of the team,” Gringo said.

Training is ongoing and all the athletes have passed medical and other training tests. He stated that accreditation passes have already been completed and sent to Kimbe.

Gringo is confident that Team Madang, in this PNG Games, will be competitive in both individual and team sports and come out to be top favourites.

He said Madang will go back to defend its soccer title; giving no chance to Morobe, Manus and Milne Bay.

Meanwhile, on behalf of Team Madang, Gringo thanked Ramu Agri Limited for the financial support of K50,000.

The donation will help Team Madang save cost and concentrate on other aspects of transportation, accommodation and food rations.

Gringo is urging potential sponsors to support Team Madang in the upcoming corporate dinner fundraiser tonight.
