Say cheese, Rooney and Zlatan

Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were paired up front together at Old Trafford on Wednesday – but only to cut a giant cheese!

The pair have rarely featured in attack this season under Jose Mourinho, with the Portuguese preferring to start summer signing Ibrahimovic as a lone forward with Manchester United captain Rooney predominantly used from the substitutes' bench.

But Rooney and Ibrahimovic showed they can be an effective partnership as they helped launch a United PR event, which included the first viewing of a club special edition TAG Heuer watch.

They might be more used to cutting open Premier League defences but, as part of the day's events, Rooney and Ibrahimovic sliced through a giant cheese in a cordoned-off area of the Old Trafford pitch.

Last month, Rooney became United's all-time leading goalscorer when he scored a sublime free-kick against Stoke to move onto 250 goals for the club, surpassing Sir Bobby Charlton's 249.

The 31-year-old missed Sunday's 3-0 win over Leicester through illness but returned to training on Wednesday and is expected to be in the squad for the visit of Watford on Saturday.

Say Ibrahimovic scored on his debut against Leicester in the Community Shield in August and netted his 20th goal in all competitions in the weekend victory at the King Power.

The Swedish forward is likely to keep his place in the starting XI against Watford, with sixth-placed United just two points off the top four.
