PNG netball name 32

PNG netball selectors have named a strong 32-woman train-on squad in preparation for the world cup regional qualifiers in New Zealand.

The selection panel is headed by former PNG Pepes head coach Annie Iamo and the train-on squad was selected after the two open trial days.

Netball PNG is pleased with the squad they have selected so far and were happy with the turnout of up to 50 women who tried out for a spot.

With notable inclusions of former Pepes, Tiata Baldwin, Susan Wellington, Margaret Eka and Kilala Owen, the 32-member squad includes:

Shooters – Jeperth Tulapi, Ravusiro Vali, Rayleen Andrew, Boio Peter, Stacey Haeremai, Evanelia Aua, Elina Ripason, Joyce Nao (Port Moresby), Sasarina Pedro (Townsville), Nancy Alu, Tiata Baldwin (Brisbane)

Midcourt – Jacklyn Lahari, Shanne Dringo, Kimberly Alex, Edna Pala, Philomena Naime, Tengapai Gigimat, Athaliah Kila, Tau Galewa (Port Moresby), Mayleen Nona (Townsville), Neritha Adula (Lae), Mary-Ellen Bonser (Brisbane)

Defenders – Carol Kanapoti, Nancy Beaso, Genevieve Ume, Serena Ovia, Julie-Anne Diro, Margaret Eka, Kilala Owen, Susan Wellington, Vele Walo (Port Moresby), Hannah Borrette (Brisbane)

The 32-member squad will begin training on Monday 29th January with a final selection camp slated for the 24th and the 25th of February.
