Palais looking to make their mark at HSBC Women’s 7s Series

The PNG Palais 7s team have their sights set on making their mark at the 2016-17 HSBC World Rugby Women's Sevens Series.

The John Larry coached side has four debutants and includes players from Mt. Hagen, Goroka and Lae.

“The team has been in camp in Port Moresby since December.

“We have two weeks of training left and a week before we go, we will name the final 12.

“We have some good players that were left out due to injury. But we also have some young girls coming up. We want to be the first team to qualify for the World Circuit,” said Larry.

Larry added the team still has experienced hands in the team to guide the team around the park.

‘We got Joanne Lagona, Kymlie Rapilla, Debbie Kaore and Lynette Kwarula still here guiding the team.

“The team is ok. It’s looking good. We just need to fix up our strength and fitness. We missed out on the World Circuit last time, now we’ll get there. We’re looking forward to this,” said Larry.

The Palais will leave for Brisbane on January 18 to play some lead up matches before heading to Sydney.

Sydney is one of the five destinations that will comprise the 2016-17 HSBC World Rugby Women's Sevens Series.

The two day tournament will run from February 3-4.
