Over K500,000 raised from Trukai auctions

The Trukai Fun Run auctions held in Lae and Port Moresby this week raked in over K500,000 for Team PNG and schools around the country.

The auction on Wednesday night at the Lae Royal Yacht Club saw 21,405 T-shirts sold, amounting to K214,050.

A further K3,500 was raised from the sale of a framed official North Queensland Cowboys NRL jersey.

The top five bidders for the night:

  2. Traisa
  3. Trukai Industries Ltd
  4.  Seeto Kui
  5. Papindo

The Port Moresby auction at the Royal Papua Yacht Club beat the one in Lae, raising K312,000 from the sale of 31,200 T-shirts at the Royal Papua Yacht Club last night.

K3,000 more came from the sale of another North Queensland Cowboys jersey and another K1,600 from a SP Hunters jersey.

The top five bidders for the night:

  1. Tru Tru Wara
  2. IBS
  3. SVS
  4. Kina
  5. Paradise Foods Ltd

All in all, K526,050 was raised from both auctions.

From the 100,000 T-shirts donated by Trukai Industries, there are now 47,395 shirts left to sell before the 2017 Trukai Fun Run on June 11.

Speaking from the auction in Lae, Secretary General of the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee, Auvita Rapilla, thanked the corporate community for their continuous support.

“By buying these T-shirts, you are giving our athletes the opportunity to be the best that they can be and make us proud as a nation.

“You are also helping many schools and institutions around the country get extra funds for their various projects and enable more people to be a part of this nationwide event,” said Rapilla.
