NSI runs inaugural School Leadership Camp in Goroka

The National Sports Institute (NSI) recently conducted its inaugural School Leadership Camp with 17 students and three teachers from the Goroka Grammar School taking part.

The School Leadership Camp concept is a new initiative by the NSI targeted to develop and enhance leadership skills in children.

The three day camp integrated physical activities, fun games, research, and public speaking targeted to enhance the six (6) principles of leadership:

•           Talk

•           Respect

•           Acceptance

•           Cooperation

•           Kindness

•           Support

Medical personnel from Goroka Base Hospital attended the camp to provide medical support.

Also included in the program were motivational speakers in PNG athletes currently training at the NSI.

Principal of the Goroka Grammar School, Paddy Kelly said he was impressed by the new concept and the activities and said his school was excited to be pioneers.

He promised students from his school will take part in future camps.

The next camp is scheduled for the term three school holidays.
