NCD Governor’s Cup underway

The National Capital District Governor’s Christmas Cup is underway in Port Moresby.

The annual rugby league event was launched yesterday at the Kone Tigers Oval.

There are 42 teams taking part this year in the tournament that started today and will end on December 31.

Tournament Coordinator, Sengelo Skonga, said games are being played at two venues – Kone Tigers Oval (Pools A-D) and Ipi Park (Pools E-H).

In the results from this morning at Ipi Park, Moutana Roosters drew with Saraga Dwellers 10-10, Freeway Bumpers def. 6 Mile Tigers 8-4, Port Moresby Muruks def. ATT 8-2, and Garden Hills Eagles def. Car Wash Blacks 14-4.

K50,000 has been allocated to cover prize money for the tournament, plus operational costs, added Skonga.
