MFA shows promise in Besta Cup comp

Morobe Football Association has had a promising start in beating Simbu and Hoods respectively in the Besta FA Cup play-offs currently underway in Lae.

This could see them come off as top of their pool with six points at the PNGFA Academy, 11-Mile.

MFA blasted Simbu 5-1 and then knocked off Hoods 3-2 to be the only undefeated team in the first day challenge.

After their loss in the hands of MFA in their first match, the boys from Central Province came back organised in their second match, defeating Simbu 6-1 in the other Pool B match.

While in Pool A, Port Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA) led with a 5-0 win over Talasea and a nil all game against Madang. Madang went on to beat Talasea 2-0 in their second match of Pool A.

PMSA thrashed Talasea 5-0 and failed to continue on their momentum into their second game, which caused them a draw with Madang nil-all.

In the women’s division, Besta Cup Momase Region champion, Morobe Football Association, sent out an early warning to PMSA women that they are aiming for the Besta silverware by thrashing Simbu 9-0 while PMSA managed to score only three against the Highlands Region women’s champion.

Kimbe women failed to turn up due to financial problems.

The competition started on November 2 and ended on Nov 4.
