Lo happy to be back

Gary Lo is happy to be back in the country and can’t wait to take the field for PNG at this month’s Rugby League World Cup.

“Michael Marum sent me a text about the selection and told me I had made the squad. I was so happy and very thankful for the opportunity to represent my country. I’m very honoured and proud,” said Lo.

“It’s been a while and so I’m really, really happy to be back.”

The 23-year-old added that he had settled in well ever since his return to PNG.

“It’s good to be playing alongside the boys again. It’s a nice feeling. It’s cool.”

He said he has learnt a lot from playing in the Kingstone Press League in England.

“It’s pretty similar to the Intrust Super Cup. It’s tough too.

“My dreams and hopes were to represent my country at the end of this year. So I gave it everything I got and topped the competition with 40 tries.

“I can’t wait and I will give my best for PNG at this World Cup,” said Lo.

Lo will travel back to England after the World Cup on December 8 to start pre-season training with his new club, Castleford Tigers, who play in the Super League competition.
