This afternoon's crowd kept the home side on a high, defeating Ireland 14 points to 6.
Just five minutes into the match and Ireland drew first blood through number 9 Michael McIlorum with a successful conversion, seeing PNG trail 6-nil.
Then came Garry Lo and Ireland were lost for answers.
The Wolfhounds could not contain PNG’s mean machine, who went in flying with a try in the corner.
Nene Macdonald ran in PNG’s second try in style, the Gabadi high flyer was a class of his own. Rhyse Martin wasn’t so lucky with his boots, missing two conversions.
Going into half time, PNG kept a close lead, 8 points to 6 over Ireland. The second half saw a tighter match as Ireland stepped up in their defense, forcing errors in the Kumul play.
Just when it seemed the game was over, the Kumuls' little maestro Watson Boas took a gamble and turned out a magnificent try to seal the match 14-6.
With the Ireland Wolfhounds done and dusted, the PNG LNG Kumuls now look forward to USA.
