Hunters Win

SP PNG Hunters did not disappoint fans in Lae city who crowded the Lae Rugby League grounds as early as 5am to see the Hunters in action.

The Hunters defeated the North Devils 32 points to 10.

The Lae Rugby League Grounds was packed to full capacity as SP PNG Hunters fans from the Momase and Highlands raced to get a glimpse of the Hunters live in action.

Those who couldn’t make their way in, got seats on the nearby hillside and surrounding trees to watch.

And the Hunters did not disappoint, registering the first two points of the game with the penalty kick after the referee ruled Devils markers offside.

Hunters than registered the first try of the match and the first Hunter try in Lae League grounds, through Edene Gabi.

Twenty three minutes into the game, Hunters scored again.

And again at the 26th minute.

Devils managed to a try 10 minutes before half time through Jack Miers.

Half score was 14 points to 6.

The scotching Lae heat put both teams to the test as well, as they struggled in the second half.

Devils were the first to score, but it was Lae’s own Charlie Simon, proving the turf knows him better, when he crossed the line twice to score the final two tries for Hunters to end the score 32 points to 10.
