Hunters defeat Blackhawks

A double from Israel Eliab helped the SP Hunters to a 24-16 win over the Townsville Blackhawks at Jack Manski Oval in Australia this afternoon.

The Hunters raced away to a 12-0 lead after tries from Stargroth Amean in the 4th minute and Watson Boas in the 10th.

The home side responded with three tries to Carlin Anderson, Paul Byrnes and then Jonathon Reuben just three minutes out from half time.

This left the score at 16-12 at the break with the Blackhawks ahead.

The second half saw no points scored until the 62nd minute when Israel Eliab crossed over to level the score.

The boot of Ase Boas put the Hunters in front converting the try. The Hunters captain then kicked a penalty in the 68th to give the Hunters some breathing space.

Eliab then sealed the win by scoring again in the 70th minute of the round 23 match.
