Germany maintain winning streak after win over Mexico

It was all from the briliant crosses of Anna Gerhardt and a double from Stefanie Sanders that helped Germany maintain their winning streak in Group D beating Mexico 3-0 at the National Football Stadium.

Mexico's tight defence and possession  of the ball in the first half saw them holding off the champions to a nil-all scoreline. This nil-all deadlock  did not last after the break when Germany penetrated Mexico’s defence with an open style of footy.

The champions return with just  three minutes into the second half when Anna Gerhardt powered a right foot from the corner that slipped off the Goal Keepers hands as she moved forward and thrust the ball swiftly across for Stefanie Sanders to placed  into the net for a 1-0 lead.

The Mexicans then retaliated but Germany’s  goal keeper Carina Schlueter was hard to beat saving every attempt by the Mexicans.

In the 65th minute, once again Anna Gerhardt moved passed through the right flank and fired through  a well time shot that slipped off the goalkeepers hands once more to see  Saskia Matheis  steer the ball into the net.

Mexico tried to maintain possession but  kept losing lost control as Germany dominated the match with control and possession.

The champions then finished off the match with another lovely cross by Gerhardth  that found  the head of Sanders for her second to seal the victory.

The champions  strengthened their hold on  to their title after tonight as they maintained lead in group D.
