Football Federation PNG continues to bring football into all rural areas with the official launching of the Sivitatana Football Association 2018 season today.
Located in Rigo district of the Central province, the villagers of Sivitatana have formed six men's and four women's teams that will do battle every Saturday at Wintom Field.
General Secretary of the Sivitatana Football Association, Koi Vaiuma thanked FFPNG.
"FFPNG has opened up a gateway to the outside for us.
"The players have been really lifted and motivated by this."
He said the finals will be played later in September of this year.
Vice President of FFPNG, Vonnie Kapi Natto said Sivitatana is just one of the many areas in the Central province that FFPNG is working to further grow football.
With International Women’s Day this month, the event was fitting with Kapi Natto reinforcing the message of gender equality.
"Thank you for encouraging women to play.
"Do encourage other women to play as well.
"I have no doubt that you can go on to represent the country one day.
"Please don't give up."
