Dwellers switch into competition mode for Champions League

Head coach of the Lae City Dwellers, Peter Gunemba says the two wins in Fiji have put them into competition mode for their opening match of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League tomorrow.

In the two friendlies played, the Dwellers beat Suva FC 3-2 followed by a 4-3 win over the Fiji national team.

Gunemba believes the two hard fought wins have formed a vital part of his team’s preparations for the Champions League.

“It’s important to have games against high-level players and teams leading up to any tournament.

“To play against competitive teams such as the Fiji national team and Suva FC can only help boost our preparations,” said Gunemba.

Gunemba added he feels confident his charges are capable of causing upsets in the OFC campaign.

“Taking that further step to a new level is the objective for Lae City Dwellers, with that the boys have shown so much positive transformation and many improvements.

I have faith in my boys and I believe they will deliver and make PNG proud,” said Gunemba.

The Lae boys will take on Vanuatu’s Malampa Revivors tomorrow at Mangere Centre Park, New Zealand. The game will kick off at 1pm local time (10am PNG time).
