Dwellers lose 2-0 to Auckland City

The Lae City Dwellers succumbed to Auckland City going down 2-0 today in round two of the Group C matches of the OFC Champions League at Mangere Centre Park, New Zealand.

Auckland City dominated possession in the first half throwing everything they had at the Dwellers.

But the Lae boys were up to the task with some solid backline defence and brilliant saves from goalkeeper Ronald Warisan.

The match looked certain to go into the break at nil all, until the 44th minute when Auckland City’s Clayton Lewis broke the deadlock firing a shot into the nets from a free kick.

The Dwellers suffered a further setback early in the second half when Troy Gunemba was sent off after his second yellow card for a foul, leaving them one player short.

Auckland City capitalised on this and scored in the 61st minute through a cross from Lewis that found Emiliano Tade who powered the ball past Warisan.

Auckland City went on to win the match to make it two wins from two games, while the Dwellers suffered their first loss.

In the other Group C encounter today, Western United defeated Malampa Revivors 2-1.
