David Warner makes a promise about Australia's Indian tour

There will be no repeat of Australia's 2013 meltdown in India during the upcoming series, says vice-captain David Warner.

On their last tour of the subcontinent four years ago Australia suffered a 4-0 whitewash and a disciplinary breach added to their woes.

In what has since been dubbed 'homeworkgate', four Australian players were made ineligible for the third Test following a breach of discipline – Shane Watson, James Pattinson, Mitchell Johnson and Usman Khawaja failing to complete an assignment from then coach Micky Arthur to put in writing how they could improve having lost the first two Tests heavily.

It was the beginning of the end for Arthur's tenure and the incident exposed problems within the Australia camp that were still there for all to see as they were dumped out of the Champions Trophy later that year.

The 2017 tour is their first time back in India and Warner is adamant the squad will remain united as they look to tackle the world's best Test side.

"The guys are going really good, everyone is up and about. I won't entertain what happened last time," said the opener after their drawn tour match with India A in Mumbai.

"For us it's about getting in the right frame of mind to take on India.

"It is always a tough challenge, but a great challenge for us to play against the best.

"It's been a long time since we've played Test cricket here. You've got to have your plans in place, and you've got to stick to them.

"The biggest challenge here is being mentally fresh. You've got to have mental toughness. You've got to be willing to grind it out and bat time here, you've seen the players that come over here and have success – they're the ones that have great mental toughness."
