Cutters, Lahanis match moved to Kokopo

The Digicel Cup Round 14 game between Kimbe Cutters and Goroka Lahanis for this weekend will now be played in Kokopo on Sunday.

PNG National Rugby League Competition (PNGNRLC) Manager, Stanley Hondina, said late this afternoon that this is due to the uncertainty of flights in and out of Hoskins.

“This game was originally scheduled to be played in Kimbe this weekend but with the recent turn of events, I advise that this cannot be played in Kimbe and has been moved to Kokopo for a double header this Sunday July 7th at Kalabond oval,” Hondina said.

“We can’t defer this game to another date as last weekend’s Round 13 game between Lae Snax Tigers and Kimbe Cutters has already been deferred to be played on the competition bye weekend of August 11,” he added.

Hondina said the first game on Sunday (July 7, 2019) at Kalabond will see Rabaul Agmark Gurias host PRK Gulf Isou at 1pm. “This will be followed by the Kimbe Cutters vs Goroka Lahanis match at 3pm,” he said.

Hondina said donations to support the Cutters appeal to assist the volcano affected areas in West New Britain will continue.

“The appeal for donations/contributions to help during this weekend is still on and I encourage everybody attending the double header in Kokopo as well as those in Port Moresby, Mendi and Mt Hagen to support this worthy cause,” he said.
