Chung urges visitors to embrace PNG

President of the Oceania Confederation, David Chung, has urged the 15 nations to embrace Papua New Guinea despite it being a developing country.

“During your stay here, you will learn that our country is very diverse in culture, language and rituals and is still developing,” says Chung, who is also the chairman of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup organising committee.

“For many months we have been working very hard to build stadiums, fields and infrastructure to host this tournament, why?

“We may not be able to match the world class facilities that you see in Europe but what we bring here is our patience for football, our culture and our pride for hosting this prestigious event.”

He added that as a football family, “we need your support in making the event a memorable one and leave a prominent legacy of football in Papua New Guinea”.

“As a developing country, not everything will be perfect, however, please, open your arms and embrace us anyway in the spirit of fair play and the spirit of football,” he said.

National Capital District Governor, Powes Parkop, supported Chung, telling the visitors that Papua New Guinea is ready to give them an experience that they will never forget the host city, Port Moresby, and the country.
