Brazil and Korea DPR in top-of-the-table FIFA clash at SJG

Pool A pace setters in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup will be eager to maintain a clean sheet in their second matches this afternoon at Sir John Guise Stadium, Port Moresby.

In the first pool matches, Brazil humiliated host, Papua New Guinea, with 9 unanswered goals and Korea DPR defeated Sweden 2-0 with speed and aggression.

In the Pool A match at the same venue, winless PNG and Sweden will play under the stadium lights at 7pm.

From three previous encounters, Korea DPR has the upper hand over the Brazilians, winning two of the matches.

Brazil coach Dorival Bueno knows the Brazilians must step up another gear to defeat the Koreans, who are one of the successful Under 20 women’s team in the world.

Korea DPR boasts an incredible record at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, and they are one of the globe’s most successful in the competition, according to FIFA.COM.

From five appearances, they have won one title.

The game will be evenly contested but the team which turn half-chances into goals will be maintaining their winning run intact, and make their chances of top two finish for the next stage easier.

Meanwhile, in today’s other matches to be played at Port Moresby Bava Park, Spain and Japan will kick of the proceedings at 4pm, and Nigeria and Canada complete the Pool B challenge at 7pm.
