Barramundis successful in final SACA match

The Hebou PNG Barramundis finished their Queensland/Northern Territory Tour on a high note.

The Barramundis boys thumped the Northern Mavericks by eight (8) wickets in the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) Premier League in Darwin, Australia yesterday.

The Northern Mavericks batted first and posted an impressive 8/256 off their allotted 50 overs.

Sam Miller was the star with the bat for the Mavericks, smashing 130 runs off just 136 balls, while Nick Benton (49) and Ben Turley (37) made valuable contributions in the middle order.

Norman Vanua was the pick of the Hebou PNG Barramundis’ bowlers taking 3/46 off his ten (10) overs, while Chad Soper (2/42), Mahuru Dai (1/28) and John Boge Reva (1/53) picked up the remaining wickets.

In reply, the Hebou PNG Barramundis had no troubles, chasing down the total in less than 35 overs, losing just two (2) wickets on the way.

Tony Ura (88) and Dogodo Bau (40) made the perfect start for the Barramundis, putting on 134 runs for the opening partnership, before Lega Siaka (95*) and Assad Vala (14*) guided the Barramundis to a comfortable victory.   

This victory was the Hebou PNG Barramundis’ third victory in a row in the SACA Premier League after victories over the Grit and the Force over the past week.

They will be flying back to Port Moresby today in preparation for the ICC Intercontinental Cup (ICUP)/World Cricket League Championships (WCLC) Round 6 Fixture against Scotland which will take place in Port Moresby from 1-8th October.

 The Hebou PNG Barramundis are currently sitting in fourth (4th) place on 40 points in the ICUP Standings after five (5) rounds while they are in second (2nd) place in the WCLC Standings on 14 points after five (5) rounds also.
