After spending the last two seasons working with Andrew Webster as their assistant coach, several Warriors players have thrown their support behind the new Wests Tigers interim boss.
Webster served as the right-hand man to former Warriors head coach Andrew McFadden for both the 2015 and 2016 NRL Telstra Premiership campaigns, before heading back to the Tigers where he had spent several seasons previously with the club's Holden Cup side.
But despite the difficult circumstances surrounding his promotion at the expense of Jason Taylor this week, veteran Warrior Simon Mannering said he fully expected Webster to prove a success.
"I am stoked for Andrew, I learnt a lot from him in his time here at the club," Mannering said.
"[He is] a real good fella on and off the field and I really rate him as a coach.
"It's a tough situation to be three games into your season and they lose their head coach and he is sort of thrust in there, but I am sure he will do the best job he can.
"If I was playing under him I'd definitely back him.
"He is still a young guy but he is a very skilled coached, very good with managing the players and relationships there, so I can't see why he can't get results on the field as a head coach."
Aside from the immediate task at hand in the shape of playing the Melbourne Storm on Sunday, Webster has the added difficulty of trying to motivate a side who have conceded a combined 80 points and scored only eight over the past two weeks.
There are also several off-field distractions which follow the Tigers wherever they go, including the suspension of Tim Simona and the fact that James Tedesco, Mitchell Moses, Luke Brooks and captain Aaron Woods are yet to commit to the club beyond this season.
But Warriors winger Ken Maumalo believed Webster's style and personality could be perfect for the Tigers right now.
"He is a good guy that Webster, it's good to see him get a crack as a head coach," Maumalo told NRL.com.
"I know he will bring a lot of enthusiasm into the group, he is a character, he's funny and I know the boys will enjoy him being their coach.
"The Tigers have got a young side and it [personality] is pretty big for a side like that. He makes all the boys laugh and gets everyone together."
