This week, West New Britain became the second province to launch its Gender Based Violence strategic plan for 2021-2025, launched by Talasea MP, Francis Galia Maneke.

Secretary for Community Development Jerry Ubase, provincial dignitaries, stakeholders and women witnessed this important occasion at the Muthuvel Stadium in Kimbe.

Acting Provincial Administrator, Leo Mapmani said the provincial administration would support the implementation of the strategic plan.

Community Development Secretary, Herry Ubase said the Government has given K7.9 million to the department to address GBV throughout the country, and that WNB is in a good position to receive assistance with the launch of its strategic plan.

Maneke said he wants the new Nakanai district to model the development goals in MTDP 4, which the National Planning discussed in their two-day NGI meeting in Kimbe last week.

It also provides strategic action plans, stakeholders and partners engagement strategy, monitoring reporting and evaluation.

The GBV committee headed by PHA Director of Public Health, Dr Joseph Nale will spearhead the implementation with support from the WNB Provincial Government. They will work in partnership with stakeholders like Yellow Ribbon, Meri Safe House and others.
