UPNG to host ‘Earthquake Relief Day’

The University of Papua New Guinea will be hosting an “Earthquake Relief Day” to raise urgently needed funds for the unfortunate victims of the February 26 earthquake.

UPNG, its staff and all of its students have combined with the representative student union members from Hela, Southern Highlands, Enga, Western and Gulf Provinces for the event.

A full day of activities, including appeals from representatives of the affected areas, will be held in the Forum Square, Waigani Campus, on Friday 6 April 2018, commencing at 9am.

“This is an open invitation to all business houses, churches, provincial groups, fellow educational institutions and the general public to come and give generously and support this fundraising initiative,” says UPNG.

“Donations of money are preferred in order to reduce the cost of transporting goods that have been donated in-kind to Lae for movement to the affected populations.

“All donations towards this worthy cause will be receipted and acknowledged, for transparency purposes.”

For further information and/or pledges of financial support or goods in-kind, contact James Robins, Director, Public Relations and Event Management, The University of Papua New Guinea 3267206, 71000008, or email jrobins@upng.ac.pg.
