Trukai assists WNB flood affected

Trukai Industries recently donated food items to villages in the Talasea area of West New Britain, which were affected by recent flooding and landslide caused by heavy rains.

Trukai assisted landslide survivors of Bagum Village of the Ward 9 area in Talasea after flash flooding and landslides damaged houses and food gardens.

On Thursday January 20 the people of Bagum, Sihuru and Harongo were left in disarray from fallen rocks, swept down logs and debris from the mountain by floods and landslides.

Trukai Industries reached out to the affected people with 300 kilograms of rice.

A community representative Dominic Kaumu, handed over the donation to the affected villages. It was a timely donation and the villagers were thankful to have received it as a demonstration of Trukai’s commitment to supporting local communities.

The presentation was done at Sihuru Village and witnessed by the Kimbe Red Cross team who were there assisting the villagers.

Village elder, Eddie Lutu thanked Trukai Industries and Mr Kaumu for seeking support on their behalf.

Trukai’s Public Relations Manager, Andrea Tagamasau said, “We are more than just a rice company. Trukai’s commitment to the people of PNG is evident as we continue to help those in need,” she said.
