Towns to host APEC meetings

More than 10 city’s and towns in Papua New Guinea will play host to several APEC meetings in Papua New Guinea leading into 2018.

This is to ensure delegates to the various APEC lead up meeting appreciate the diversity and uniqueness PNG has to offer.

Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, said this today during the sixth Security Partners Working Group meeting in Port Moresby.

“Our country has many regions and is culturally unique. And that is where we believe some of the delegates can enjoy when some of the lead up meetings take place in those areas,” O’Neill said.

He added “right across the country when they now hear that we are going to host APEC in Port Moresby and Papua New Guinea, there is a lot of excitement within our communities.”

City’s that will host APEC lead up meeting include, Port Moresby, Lae, Kokopo, Wewak, Kavieng, Madang, Mt Hagen, Goroka, Popondetta, Arawa and several other places yet to be named.

These towns will host Senior Officials Meetings (SOMs) as well as APEC Ministerial Meetings.
