Teens charged with rape of 11yo

Two teenagers have appeared at the Lorengau District Court over the pack rape incident on Saturday 17 August.

The 18 and 19 year olds were arrested and charged over the rape of an 11-year-old girl, at Koroji village, along the south coast of Manus Province.

According to police reports, the Grade Three student was tied, blindfolded and taken to a nearby bush where they took turns raping her.

The victim sustained serious injuries from the ordeal.

Provincial Police Commander, Chief Inspector David Yapu, thanked community leaders and village court officials who assisted police in getting the teenagers to surrender to police after the incident.

Both men appeared for mention in the District Court on Wednesday.
