Suspects nabbed in undercover operation

A five-month undercover operation saw police arrest two armed robbery suspects in the National Capital District on October 24th.

NCD/Central Commander, Anthony Wagambie Jr, said detectives acting on a tip-off and CCTV footages supplied by victims of crime conducted surveillance on the movement of these two suspects and nabbed them near the Waigani Mobil Service Station.

Wagambie said a shop at the ATS settlement at the back of Jackson’s airport was held up by several gunmen and K16,000 in cash was stolen on Sunday June 16th, 2019.

The same gang allegedly went to Badili, held up employees of a shop and stole K9,817.80 in cash before escaping in a waiting car.

CCTV footages of these two crimes were extracted and given to detectives at the Boroko Police Station who identified two suspects in the recordings, observed their movements and eventually arrested them on October 24th.

The two suspects were identified as Murphy Miro alias Mafex, 29, of Lese village Malalaua in the Gulf Province and Gilbert Farisa alias Gills, 26, of Moveave village Malalaua, also in Gulf Province.

Commander Wagambie commended his team of detectives for successfully identifying and arresting the suspects involved in these two crimes.

He also applauded members of the public who helped by providing information leading up to the arrest of these two wanted men.
