Sir Gibbs is acting Chief Justice

Deputy Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika is now acting Chief Justice.

Sir Salamo Injia's term as Chief Justice of Papua New Guinea ended 31 October, and with the vacancy in office, his deputy, Sir Gibbs, is now acting in the position.

Registrar of the Supreme and National Court Ian Augerea, in a notice issued November 1, 2018, said Sir Gibbs Salika is acting Chief Justice until further notice.

The Judicial and Legal Services Commission and NEC is yet to make an announcement on a permanent appointment.

Sir Salamo was appointed Chief Justice in 2008 for a period of 10 years.
