Services remain disrupted in Mendi

Government properties, hospitals, schools, banks including major business houses have been affected in Mendi, Southern Highlands Province.

According to sources on ground in the province, most of the services have been disrupted since the weekend and still remains disrupted.

Police have been on high alert since the killings over the weekend.

Opportunists have taken advantage of the attacks on the weekend and this has caused much concern for security personals on ground. 

Meantime, the Police Commissioner who has been briefed about the situation in Mendi released a statement yesterday.

Baki said Mendi town currently has less than 100 police personnel on ground who are doing everything they can to contain and maintain normalcy in the province until extra manpower is deployed in the next few days.

He said he is giving the people of Mendi one week to bring to justice those criminals who killed the policemen.

Commissioner Baki said that he will be making a recommendation to the government on the the next course of action to be taken if the killers are not brought to justice within the week.
