Roche calls for reflection on blessings

‘Let us be proud of being one people, one nation and one country’, said CBC’s General Secretary, Fr Victor Roche, SVD in his Independence message on Friday, 14 September 2018.

“During this Independence Day, it is good that we reflect on the blessings we have received as a country. We have to thank God for our journey from our humble beginnings to this day,” said Fr Victor.

He said that for many centuries we have been living in our small and scattered communities and villages hidden from the outside world. However, today, we are connected to the rest of the world community as one nation.

“We thank our forefathers who got us Independence; Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare, the father of the nation, Sir Julias Chan and many others who had the vision of a new and independent country,” Fr Victor stated.

Fr Victor thanked God for PNG’s development in terms of infrastructure and human resources and also spoke about the APEC meeting that will be held in November saying that we should be proud of it.

“We wish the Prime Minister and his government all the best in this great endeavour. It is a great opportunity for us to showcase to the rest of the world that we are a mature and independent country.”

He invited all to be responsible citizens and stop vandalizing properties, stop rascals and corruption and that we should be proud to be united as one.
