Relatives demand answers

​Relatives of the two murdered police officers in Port Moresby are demanding the Southern Highlands leaders to surrender the murderers.

They told Loop PNG that they will not repatriate the bodies until people responsible for the murder go behind the bars.

The Funeral arrangement committee headed by Hela Gimbu Association chairman, Damien Arabagali have given the petition to the Southern Highlands leaders on behalf of the relatives.

Southern Highlands Governor William Powi, received the petition and passed his condolences to the family.

He said the SHP leaders will look into the petition and respond in a few days’ time.

Meanwhile, the investigation team from the police headquarters have already assigned to investigate the murder.

The two policemen were killed in a daylight ambush on Sept 30, 2017 while another officer was wounded.

The other two teachers who were also in the vehicle escaped.

They were on their way to Tari from Mendi when they were ambushed.

The bodies of the officers have been flown to Port Moresby last Friday.
