PM to open Tona Piambil road

The Tona Piambil road in the Imbongu District of Southern Highlands Province is set to be open on Saturday the 25th of February 2017.

Prime Minister and member for Ialibu Pangia, Peter O’Neill has accepted the invitation of the people of Kunukumbe to officiate at this weekend’s ceremony.

Councillor for Piambil 1 Lepi Koiaye has thanked Southern Highlands Governor William Powi and his provincial government for funding the construction of this road.

“Since Independence, we have had no basic government services in our area and have missed out greatly on the benefits of these services. We thank William Powi Governor of Southern Highland Province for funding the Tona Piambil road. We can now easily sit on a coaster bus and travel to the nearest town within a day to access basic services”, said Councilor Lepi.

He also thanked Prime Minister Peter O’Neill for accepting their invitation to officially open the Tona Piambil road.

“We thank the Prime Minister Peter O’Niell for accepting our invitation to open the Tona Piambil Road. This will be the first time a Prime Minister has come to our remote village and we look forward to receiving him with honour”, said Councillor Lepi.

The people of Kunukumbe well ahead in their preparations to receive the Prime Minister for the first time and other dignitaries and delegation.
